Idea

Kray Technologies Inc. has created the highly efficient crop protection application technology for use at the industrial scale in almost all farms. We bring the innovation to the agricultural sector allowing farmers run spraying safely and precisely at the much lower cost in the medium and big farms.
We are currently selling Kray Protection UAS in the U.S. and Canadian markets and on the way to scale our production capabilities. Then we will make the transition to Spraying-as-a-Service model powered by totally manless operations with Kray Protection 2 UAS.

Current Status

From 2015, we made series UAS model led by our advisors and partners testing requests.
In sales, we had achieved $8M+ in Requests for Quotes and estimation of $15M in the overall pipeline, 4% conversion for the sales period, and $250K in revenue.

Market

Main target market is mid-acreage farms (100-2000 ha) and crop protection/drone operators.
Market Size (U.S. and Canada only):
TAM: $19B for services
TM: $4B for industrial spraying UAS
Estimated Reach: 10% of TM by 2024, 10% of TAM to 2029

Problem or Opportunity

Currently, a mid-size farmer applies crop protection with ground sprayer or ag plane services and:
- pays a lot in fares ($25/hectare);
- suffers from big yield losses (3-5%) due to trampling (ground sprayers) and drift buffer zones (planes);
- doesn’t increase yields as timely applications of pesticides or fertilizers are limited due to high application costs,
which all cause low average profits of mid-size farmer. Available drones cannot help due to lack of safety and industrial productivity.

Solution (product or service)

Example: a farmer with 2000 hectares farm. Before Kray, he spent for crop protection services $150-200K/year. Buying his own machinery would cost from $350K to $3M and require highly expensive infrastructure and staff. Kray Protection UAS costs $50K and competitive with ROI 500%-2500%. Farmer has the 1/10 of application cost now, eliminate 3-5% yield losses caused by spray drift buffering or trampling, and makes the extra 10-30% yields by timely and frequent application of smart fertilizers.

Competitors

DJI and Chinese companies produce small multirotors, Yamaha - helicopters, SwarmBot - ground robots. In the future, the competition from aviation giants is possible but unlikely as the market is not very big and the domain is specific and complex.

Advantages or differentiators

Only Kray meets market’s productivity need of 50-100 acre/h vs 10-20 of competitors’. No solutions except Kray can meet the safety required by EPA and FAA. No way except Kray’s can lead to meet industrial requirements with min 3 years of time margin.

Invention/Patent

Kray holds 15 patent applications in high-speed precision control VTOL UAV platform, precise computer vision terrain follow, and spraying system. Great IP is essential for every company in the domain. Kray does not rely on 3rd party closed IP.
The regulatory framework is twofold from aviation and environmental protection. The requirements on flight safety as well as chemicals drift are severe and outing competitors, requiring complex technical solutions which are designed in Kray.
