Every single day about ten million trucks come on the road delivering all the stuff that we have.
In spite of the fact that trucking industry has over three hundred forty billion dollars of annual revenue, these guys still have a lot of problems.
You might think it's as simple as anything. Freight-forwarders need trucks and trucking companies need loads. Here goes the main problem. The industry lacks an efficient tool that would help trucking companies and freight forwarders communicate more effectively, consequently saving time and money.
Freight-forwarders spend an average of two hours to book a single load. They make a bunch of calls to find an available carrier, or post their loads on the traditional load boards and then they have to spend even more of their time: waiting, answering emails, phone calls, picking up faxes. This is how it works today, making freight forwarding a real nightmare.
It’s really hard to believe but the tools and the processes have not changed for years. Probably the only step forward that was made during the last 10 years, is the faxes have been mostly replacing by emails. This fact causes another problem that resides in more than 27% of truck cargo space used inefficiently.
So what have we done? We have changed the way how freight-forwarders cooperate with trucking companies.
We have developed a geolocation model, which allows freight forwarders to instantly connect with all available trucks in the nearby area. Our approach allows to reduce the time needed to book a single load from 2 hours to 10 minutes. Besides, we also provide real-time tracking for each delivery.
For truck drivers, we have developed a mobile application, called Tona Driver, allowing to search orders, calculate routes, find truck stops, shops, service stations, and other truck-specific information.
We use transaction-based business model. Trucking companies get an instant flow of orders and are charged up to 20% commission for each accepted order.
Tona was launched in Ukraine about a year ago. During this time, our carriers have successfully completed more than ten thousand orders, totaling more than two hundred and forty thousand dollars.
We had managed to gather a great team of 11 people that I'm really proud to work with. We have our CEO Yakov, who has a solid record of 7 years experience in logistics, our CTO - Max - with more than 5 years of development experience, and me holding a position of CMO having a great experience in the family trucking business and understanding most of the processes of trucking companies.
Our goal is to reinvent freight forwarding by using technology. To build the every freight forwarder as a technology company first. We are raising 1.5M dollars in a seed round and we want you to join us on our mission to transform the entire logistics industry.
